The Langbury is the large Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentleman's residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor.
Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced, breakfast.
Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. |
The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country.

We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale National Trust Castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west and the ancient harbour town of Watchet three miles to the East. |

In Blue Anchor there are two pubs,a café and tea room within easy walking distance all providing good quality food, there is also a local farm shop a convenience store/newsagents together with a small indoor swimming pool.
Steam Railway enthusiasts can board a train at the station onto the longest preserved railway in the country. Trains run from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard; skirting the Quantock Hills and passing through picturesque villages & tranquil countryside.
Dunster is 2½ miles by public footpath across the fields and Minehead is an hours walk along the beach; for the more adventurous both routes lead onto open moorland beyond, which will take you to thousands of acres of some of the most beautiful un-populated scenery in England which waits to be enjoyed. With a leisurely car journey one can explore the hills, valleys, woodlands and breathtaking coastline of Exmoor with its numerous picture-book villages, National Trust Houses and Gardens.
You might, if you’re lucky, come across a few examples of the region’s wildlife on your wanderings. The Exmoor pony is the nearest breed we have to the original wild horses of Europe, while red deer, the largest wild animals in England, have lived on Exmoor since prehistoric times. Buzzards often soar overhead. |

For a day trip there are the historic cities of Bath, Bristol and Exeter. Visit Wells with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Explore the Cheddar Caves or Glastonbury; all will make a memorable day out. |
