Steam Railway enthusiasts can board a train at the station onto the longest preserved railway in the country. Trains run from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard; skirting the Quantock Hills and passing through picturesque villages & tranquil countryside.

Dunster is 2½ miles by public footpath across the fields and Minehead is an hours walk along the beach; for the more adventurous both routes lead onto open moorland beyond, which will take you to thousands of acres of some of the most beautiful un-populated scenery in England which waits to be enjoyed. With a leisurely car journey one can explore the hills, valleys, woodlands and breathtaking coastline of Exmoor with its numerous picture-book villages, National Trust Houses and Gardens.

You might, if you’re lucky, come across a few examples of the region’s wildlife on your wanderings. The Exmoor pony is the nearest breed we have to the original wild horses of Europe, while red deer, the largest wild animals in England, have lived on Exmoor since prehistoric times. Buzzards often soar overhead.
